About the Role: We are recruiting for a Publisher to join Springer Nature! As a Publisher you will be responsible for the growth, development and publishing management of a portfolio of journals with the aim of becoming the market leader within selected disciplines and geographies. You will work alongside an international team of publishers and the Executive Editor to develop a varied list of journals including hybrid, Open Access and society titles.
Role Responsibilities:
- Strategic management of a portfolio, including prioritization of key titles, preparing and implementing journal development/improvement plans, as well as establishing and monitoring annual performance targets.
- Drive the content growth--specifically within China--while delivering a best-in-class author experience and efficient workflows.
- Engaging with Editors in Chief and Editorial Board members to develop collaborative, long-term relationships that yield successful journal performance.
- Negotiating contracts and renewals that aim toward, and result in, content quality and growth.
- Monitoring financial performance and identifying opportunities to increase profitability.
- Developing strong working relationships with colleagues in Applied Sciences and across global departments.
- Actively participating in the research communities to conduct market research and predict future trends.
- Requires traveling several times per year (domestic and international) to conferences and universities for in-person conversations with researchers.
- Expanding the network of advisors and contributors for the purpose of identifying opportunities for new products and services.
- Contributing to the wider Springer Nature Journals group by taking part in cross-departmental projects and initiatives, with respect to publication ethics, data transparency, Open Access practices and policies, Sustainable Development Goals, Diversity and Inclusion, and other industry developments.
