Overview
As Senior Publisher, you will lead the strategic direction and growth of a portfolio of Computer Science journals, balancing hybrid and open access models. You will work closely with Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Boards, and colleagues across Springer Nature to strengthen quality, visibility, and competitiveness. You will use data and market insights to identify opportunities and drive sustainable growth. This role offers cross‑functional collaboration in a global team and opportunities to influence portfolio strategy and publishing standards.

Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development, growth, and positioning of a CS journal portfolio, aligning plans with divisional objectives.
- Develop and implement journal development plans using performance data and market insights to improve quality and reputation.
- Identify growth opportunities through emerging research areas, collections, commissioning, and new journal or product initiatives.
- Build relationships with Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Boards, researchers, and stakeholders to align with journal objectives.
- Plan and facilitate editor meetings and ensure actions are delivered.
- Represent Springer Nature at conferences and external engagements.
- Monitor research and publishing landscape to generate actionable recommendations.
- Monitor and report on KPIs: submissions, publications, transfers, peer-review, and turnaround times.
- Collaborate with publishing teams to improve workflows and author/editor experience.
- Support editorial policies, ethics, and integrity standards; resolve complex editorial matters.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, contract renewals, and portfolio-management activities.
- Participate in cross-functional projects across Springer Nature.
Key requirements
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience managing and developing scholarly journals.
- Strong understanding of hybrid and fully open access publishing.
- Experience building relationships with Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Boards, researchers, and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of peer review, editorial policies, and research integrity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate data into action.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects in a fast-changing environment.
- Sound judgement, diplomacy, and ability to handle sensitive situations.
- Strong organizational skills and experience with publishing systems and digital platforms.
