Are you a well‑motivated, enthusiastic dentist, keen to be involved with the supervising and mentoring of dental students in clinical dentistry and the primary care dental practice setting? This role is designed to provide clinical supervision to dental undergraduate students from the University of Manchester Dental School, working in placements within Bupa Dental Care practices. In nurturing the development of future talent, the role will be supportive in the dental learning and clinical execution of dental treatments in a dental practice setting.
Salary & benefits
- 1 day per week – Wednesday 08:30-17:00
- Annual salary of £73,000 pro‑rata
- Working 37 weeks in the year (academic term time only)

Overview of responsibilities
- The post holder will be required to provide active supervision and assessment to undergraduate dental students attending the practice for a supervised student clinic.
- Provide students with constructive verbal and written feedback on their performance, using the UoM online assessment tool.
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students as an academic advisor or Student Development Record reviewer.
- Active involvement in clinical and non‑clinical assessment of the students.
- Encourage and respond to student and peer review feedback.
- Where possible, attend staff training sessions by the University/Dental School.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work in other clinics if possible, to cover student clinics in the event of sickness or unforeseen absence.
- Help with patient care delivered by students and manage expectations of treatment in this setting.
- Able to commit to working all 37 term time weeks.
Qualifications & experience
- BDS or equivalent qualification.
- Full General Dental Council registration, with no ongoing GDC investigations.
- A minimum of 3 years postgraduate dental experience.
- Previous experience of teaching or mentoring is desirable.
- Complete mandatory training, including BLS and safeguarding.
