Shape care. Lead teams. Build something that matters. We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Dentist to take on a dual clinical and leadership role within Durham Smile Clinic. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on patient care and play a central role in how high-quality care is delivered, how teams perform, and how the practice evolves. With two clear pathways, you can shape your role in a way that aligns with how you want to lead and contribute.

The Opportunity

We recognise that leadership looks different for different clinicians. That’s why we offer two distinct ways to step into this role:

  • Shared Ownership Model
    • Take a meaningful stake in the practice and play a central role in its future.
    • Become a partner through a simple, transparent shared ownership model.
    • Share directly in the profitability and long-term success of the practice.
    • Combine clinical leadership with commercial influence and decision-making.
    • Shape the direction of the practice, from patient care to performance.
    • Work as part of a wider group with the support, scale, and infrastructure of Portman Dentex.
  • Practice Clinical Lead (PCL)
    • Step into a recognised clinical leadership role, focused on care, standards, and team development.
    • Work closely with the Practice Manager to drive performance and patient outcomes.
    • Shape clinical standards, protocols, and the overall patient journey.
    • Support, mentor, and develop the clinical team.
    • Champion governance, best practice, and continuous improvement.
    • Contribute to decision-making and the strategic direction of the practice.

This option is ideal for clinicians who want to lead and influence without taking on an ownership stake.

About You

  • GDC-registered dentist with strong clinical experience.
  • Natural leader who communicates with clarity and builds trust.
  • Committed to high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Motivated to develop others and improve how the practice operates.
  • Interested in playing a broader role in shaping the future of the practice.

What We Offer

  • A supportive, collaborative environment where leadership is encouraged.
  • Flexibility to choose the pathway that fits how you want to contribute.
  • Ongoing professional development and leadership support.
  • The opportunity to influence how care is delivered day to day.
  • A clear and transparent shared ownership model for those who want it.

Whether your focus is clinical leadership, shared ownership, or both over time, this role offers the platform to shape, lead, and contribute in a way that matters.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity, equity and inclusion in our workplace. We are committed to creating an environment of mutual respect and are dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity, marital or civil partner status, disability, age, or nationality.
