This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior clinical leadership role, leading clinical strategy, quality, and performance across a defined region. As a Regional Clinical Director, you will play a critical role in shaping how care is delivered at scale — influencing clinical standards, strengthening clinician engagement, and ensuring safe, high‑quality outcomes for patients, while delivering strong and sustainable commercial performance across your region. This role offers the opportunity to operate as a trusted senior clinical voice, working in close partnership with operational leadership to set direction, drive performance, and deliver meaningful impact across clinical and business outcomes.

About the Role: As a Regional Clinical Director, you will provide strategic clinical leadership across your region, with accountability for clinical performance, governance, workforce sustainability and clinician engagement. This is a regional leadership role alongside ongoing clinical practice, requiring regular travel across your geography and dedicated time to lead clinical strategy, governance and engagement at scale. You will operate through your Area Clinical Leads (ACLs), ensuring consistent delivery and impact across practices. The successful candidate will be required to maintain clinical practice, working 1 day per week as a dentist in a Bupa Dental Care practice, alongside 4 days per week in the Regional Clinical Director role.

You Will:

  • Own and drive regional clinical performance, ensuring delivery of key productivity, utilisation, revenue and growth outcomes through the ACL team.
  • Set clear direction and expectations for clinical performance, translating strategy and insight into actionable regional priorities.
  • Partner with operational leadership to shape and deliver regional business performance and growth.
  • Drive improvements in clinical quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Use data, insight and risk trends to inform decision making, prioritisation and proactive performance improvement.
  • Provide strategic clinical input into business planning, growth and transformation initiatives.
  • Act as the senior clinical escalation point for complex clinical risk, incidents and complaints.
  • Build strong engagement with clinicians, creating a culture of learning, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, develop and performance manage a team of Area Clinical Leads, ensuring clear accountability for delivery, outcomes and impact across the region.
  • Own workforce planning at a regional level, including building a strong pipeline of clinical talent and proactively managing succession risk.
  • Support recruitment, retention and development of clinical talent across the region.
  • Provide clinical leadership into regulatory readiness, inspections and compliance activity, ensuring consistent standards.
  • Act as a senior clinical sponsor for change and transformation, ensuring initiatives are prioritised, embedded and deliver measurable impact.
  • Contribute to innovation, service development and strategic projects.

Role Requirements:

  • Have endorsement from ROD or Operations Director.
  • Be GDC registered with a minimum of 10 years UK clinical experience.
  • Be a practising clinician in general or specialist dentistry.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical leadership capability, with the ability to influence, inspire and drive performance through others.
  • Have experience operating in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
  • Be confident using data and insight to inform decision‑making.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgement, integrity and communication skills.
  • Show experience in leading or contributing to quality improvement, governance or transformation activity.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Opportunity to shape clinical strategy and delivery at regional level.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision‑making.
  • A highly visible leadership role with significant organisational impact.
  • Opportunity to lead and develop a high‑performing clinical leadership layer (ACLs).
  • Influence across clinical quality, patient experience and regional business performance.
