About the Role

Nature Communications is the leading multidisciplinary Open Access journal, publishing high-quality scientific research. To help us to build on the success of this journal, we're seeking an editor with a critical eye, a deep understanding of their subject and interests beyond, and who can think on their feet. We are looking for a candidate with experience in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases or Clinical Vaccinology; candidates with experience in designing and conducting clinical trials are especially encouraged to apply.

You will report to a Chief Editor in the health and clinical sciences division at Nature Communications and may collaborate closely with other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. Please note that responsibilities and journal assignments may evolve over time in response to portfolio needs.

This role is offered on a fixed-term contract (maternity cover) basis and can be in our London or Pune offices on a hybrid working model.

Role responsibilities:

Experience, Skills, & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different areas of this discipline.
  • Additional research experience is valuable but not necessary.
  • Editorial experience is not required, although applicants with significant editorial experience are encouraged to apply and will potentially be considered for Senior Editor positions.
