**About The Role**
We are hiring for an Editorial Assistant! In this role you will manage the processing of manuscripts from submission to acceptance. You will support the standardization of workflows, improve efficiencies, data collection and will support authors, editors, and reviewers. As an Editorial Assistant, you will play an integral part in assisting the internal and external editorial teams with ensuring manuscripts are processed within suitable timeframes and with the overall smooth operation of our editorial process. This administrative role offers a unique opportunity for career development, with potential growth through various levels of editorial administration and operational management. While this position does not involve writing or editing content, it provides invaluable insights into the scientific editorial and peer review processes.
**Role Responsibilities**
- Managing the flow of manuscripts from submission to acceptance through the manuscript tracking system (MTS) - performing quality checks on manuscripts and ensuring all legal forms are collected and stored
- Providing MTS support for Authors, Reviewers and internal & external Editors - troubleshooting and assisting with system issues and escalating to the relevant teams if needed
- Liaising with Authors, Reviewers and internal & external Editors via email and telephone – ensuring your manner is always polite, professional and helpful
- Maintaining correct information within the databases – updating person records within the MTS and ensuring manuscript information is correct
- Assisting with editorial reports
- Assisting with other ad hoc tasks associated with the editorial workflow of manuscripts
- Providing team cover during periods of absence
**Experience, Skills and Qualifications:**
**Essential**
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
- Microsoft Office suite experience
- Ability to manage databases
- Demonstrable ability to multi-task efficiently
- Strong organisation skills
- Prioritisation skills
- Proven ability to meet targets and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage and build key relationships with stakeholders (internal and external)
**Desirable**
- Experience working in a fast-paced office environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the scientific publishing processes and landscape
