About the Role

In this position, you will work closely with the Chief Editor and the editorial team on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection; commissioning; editing of Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, and other content; as well as occasional writing for the journal. This work requires decisiveness and excellent time-management skills as well as a communicative, collaborative spirit within and outside the team.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manuscript selection and the overseeing of peer review.
  • Commissioning and editing of reviews and commentary.
  • The generation and discussion of ideas for new content.
  • Writing for the journal.
  • Liaising with the research community through laboratory visits and international conferences.
  • Attendance to scientific conferences and regular liaising with researchers via videoconference and on-site visits.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in an area of health research, ideally in public health or epidemiology.
  • Track record of published health research.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills.
  • Decisiveness leavened with openness and humility.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • A collaborative spirit: you will be working in a team setting, striving to support and mentor others, and to maximize our collective success.
  • Flexibility: be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment and understanding that our priorities may change with the evolution of health research and world events.

Desirable

  • Postdoctoral experience.
  • For consideration for the senior-editor position, candidates must have extensive editorial experience in a clearly similar role on one or more health research journals.
