We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Buyer to support the delivery and ongoing improvement of our procurement activities. In this role, you will be responsible for managing sourcing activities, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring value for money across a range of goods and services. You will work closely with operational teams and key stakeholders to understand requirements, support compliant purchasing processes, and contribute to effective contract and supplier management. The successful candidate will play an important role in supplier performance monitoring, cost control, risk management, and maintaining accurate procurement records. You will help ensure procurement activity is consistent, transparent, and aligned with organisational policies.
About the role:
- Oversee day-to-day purchasing to ensure care homes receive goods and services on time.
- Develop procurement plans aligned with operational needs across multiple sites.
- Manage tendering and supplier selection to secure quality and value.
- Negotiate contracts and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with policies, sector regulations, and audit requirements.
- Monitor budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising care standards.
- Provide procurement guidance to home managers and support continuous process improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in a senior procurement role within a large, multi-site organisation.
- Proven expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and driving process improvements.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Business Administration or related field and/or Professional membership or working towards certification (eg CIPS Level 4 or above).
Successful applicants would require two written references, a standard/enhanced DBS (depending on role) and evidence of a right to work in the UK check.
