The Sanner Group is a global Contract Design and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO), offering our customers an end‑to‑end development service, and taking products from concept all the way through to high‑volume production. From our design centre of excellence, Springboard in Cambridge, UK, we develop a wide range of novel medical device and diagnostic products, from single‑use consumables to complex electromechanical devices. We are seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to be part of our rapidly growing team.
The opportunity
This role is suited to new graduates who have completed their undergraduate degree within the past year. You will develop concepts, technologies and products for international device companies using a wide range of practical and analytical technical skills. Typical projects last from a few weeks to a few years, so you will get to work on a wide range of different projects. Working collaboratively within project teams and coached by experienced staff, you will present your work to senior leaders at our client companies and create solutions to important technical programmes. Graduate Mechanical Engineer role
- Understanding a technical problem and applying knowledge to come up with innovative solutions.
- Building proof of principle demonstrators and prototypes in our laboratory, carrying out testing to build understanding and confidence in designs.
- Working with other disciplines such as industrial design and electronics to produce product designs.
- Presenting to clients in a way that clearly interprets the engineering for their needs.
Requirements – you need to be able to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to investigate a problem and develop a practical solution which benefits people.
- Team‑working and communication skills, including written, oral and presentation skills.
- A first or 2:i in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline from a leading university (UK top 10 or equivalent) and A‑levels minimum AAB or equivalent including maths and physics.
- On‑site working in Cambridge.
- Eligibility to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor work permits.
Desirable – these are not essential but if you have some, they will make your application stronger:
- Hands‑on experience of laboratory research, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with machining, 3D printing, or other workshop skills.
- Experience using a mechanical CAD package such as Solidworks.
- A passion for science and engineering outside school, university, or work.
