Are you ready to lead and inspire? We\’re opening a brand-new Children\’s Home in Sheffield supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) – and we’re looking for a passionate and experienced Ofsted Registered Manager to join us from the very start and help to shape a positive, therapeutic environment from day one.
Salary Range
£50,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance & Ofsted Readiness: Operate as the legal Registered Manager, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children\’s Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards. Lead preparation for inspections and regulatory reviews, maintaining accurate documentation and responding to inspection findings.
- Leadership & Staff Management: Recruit, onboard, supervise, and mentor staff. Facilitate regular training, appraisals, and performance reviews. Foster a safe, supportive, and collaborative team culture.
- Child-focused Care & Planning: Oversee development and implementation of personalised care plans and risk assessments in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Manage admissions, discharges, and transitions with sensitivity and consistency. Advocate for children’s welfare, education, mental health, and community integration.
- Safeguarding & Well-being: Act as the home’s safeguarding lead; ensure robust child protection standards are maintained across the team. Promote emotional, physical, and social well‑being in line with best practice and therapeutic approaches.
- Operational Oversight & Budget Management: Manage budgets, resources, and facilities to deliver high‑quality care within financial constraints. Ensure accurate and compliant record‑keeping, including placement records, incident logs, and staff documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement & External Collaboration: Liaise with families, social workers, health and education professionals, and local authorities to ensure holistic care. Represent the home at meetings, case reviews, and external forums.
- Continuous Improvement & Environment Building: Evaluate service delivery, implement improvements, and lead on self‑assessments and development planning. Maintain a warm, homely environment that supports children’s growth and community participation.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Residential Childcare), or working towards it.
- Minimum of 2 years’ managerial experience in an Ofsted‑regulated children’s home.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted inspection criteria.
- Safeguarding expertise and comprehensive understanding of child protection legislation.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working with children with emotional, behavioural, or mental health needs (EBD).
- Familiarity with therapeutic frameworks such as PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy).
- Prior experience leading new home setups or registration processes. (Leader HSC)
- A genuine passion for creating nurturing, family‑like environments and fostering continuous improvement.
