We are looking for an experienced Trade Mark Attorney to join our team to help us grow the business and to support in managing the trade mark and design portfolios of our exciting client base.

The role will offer the right candidate exposure to really exciting brand portfolios, an extensive range of work and the ability to be instrumental in growing a new, agile and innovative brand in a generally dull and archaic industry that needs some shaking up! We have a personable, enthusiastic and close-knit team that, despite working remotely, is always in touch and supports one another on a daily basis. Springbird is very much a non-toxic zone!

For those that want a bit more than to just churn out Attorney work, we think we offer something different. There will be exposure to trade mark and design portfolio management, contentious trade mark and design work and strategic IP advisory work. Our team manages portfolios and projects for the most exciting and innovative businesses in the UK and has grown substantially in a very short period of time. This is largely due to our subscription model, which provides clients with certainty and allows our Attorneys to finally be free of their timesheet (yes, we really don’t time record!) and to offer the service clients deserve over and above everything else.

By removing timesheets, we have also removed the “ownership” of portfolios, meaning everyone mucks in and picks up the work that needs doing, regardless of who it is for and who brought that client to Springbird; we cover each other’s backs and ensure that client service is at the forefront, and not the need to protect a portfolio from others or to add time to the clock.

Who you are

You are an Attorney with hands-on experience in trade mark portfolio management and enforcement, with a commercial approach and a keen eye for detail. Experience in designs and general commercial strategy would be advantageous but is not essential. We are looking for someone who will be keen to hit the ground running, develop their skills and help shape our business and brand. You will be excited by the prospect of doing things differently and would love to have the freedom to present and implement ideas that help the firm run more effectively or efficiently. PQE isn’t important to us; your ability, attitude and experience is.

You will need strong prioritisation and time management skills and should be comfortable with change – we move quickly and are always implementing new tools and ideas! Our sights are set on growth and so we would love to bring someone on board that is keen to be involved in business development and growing a team, though this is not essential. An ability to communicate with straightforward, jargon-free language is however essential, as is a commercial and pragmatic approach. More than anything, we want someone with ideas, passion for change and who likes the idea of challenging the status quo. We are a team that likes to do things a bit differently, and with a bit of personality!

Who we are

We are the new kid on the block, having launched in February 2023. We have grown from 1 person to a team of 9 very quickly and are hiring into the team again to support our continued growth. Our firm is fast-growing and is centered around our innovative subscription model, offering clients certainty and efficiency in an industry steeped in tradition.

The firm undertakes a broad variety of IP work including:

  • Availability searches and advice
  • Strategic filing advice and global filing programmes
  • IP strategy
  • Contentious opposition and cancellation proceedings at the UKIPO
  • Pro-active portfolio management and consultancy
  • Anti-counterfeiting
  • IP Litigation

Whilst the firm works remotely, we are constantly in touch, have team meetings every week and ensure that everyone feels fully supported and integrated within the business. The team is made up of four Attorneys, three Paralegals, a Business Administrator, and an Associate Director of Operations. It is a close-knit team offering the full spectrum of trade mark and design support to some of the UK's most exciting businesses and brands.
