The Role
As a Senior European Road Freight Operator, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end European road freight exports, from the initial planning stages through to successful delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring export loads are planned efficiently and cost-effectively, while maintaining excellent relationships with customers, hauliers and overseas partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate European road export loads from start to finish
- Plan the most efficient and cost-effective loading of export trailers
- Manage the end-to-end road freight process, ensuring shipments are handled smoothly and efficiently
- Liaise with customers, hauliers and overseas agents on a daily basis
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Deal confidently with clients via telephone and email
- Prepare and provide competitive quotations for prospective business
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any operational issues
- Ensure all relevant customs and export procedures are followed
- Use internal systems to manage shipments and operational processes
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure a high level of customer service
- Take responsibility for your own workload while contributing positively to the wider team
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and experienced freight professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will ideally have:
- At least 5 years' experience in European Road Exports
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end European road freight operations
- Experience planning and managing export loads
- Some knowledge of customs procedures
- Experience working with Sequoia or similar freight systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A professional and confident telephone manner
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative
