Spring Garden Group Medical Practice has a fantastic opportunity for a part-time clinical coder to join our team. If you are highly organised, motivated, comfortable with technology, and have experience of clinical coding, this is the role for you. This is a 25 hour per week post, and the days can be negotiated to suit you and the needs of the practice team.

Main duties of the job:

  • Reviewing electronic clinical letters, clinical e-mails, paper documentation, and any other clinical correspondence.
  • Identifying relevant clinical findings and coding the documents appropriately and accurately in patient medical records.
  • Using document management within the EMIS web clinical system and Docman 10 to accurately code information from clinical letters.
  • Scanning of patient-related documentation and coding relevant information.
  • Dealing with any follow-up actions from the documents, such as arranging appointments or tests.
  • Dealing with safeguarding documentation.
  • Responding to tasks sent in the clinical system.
  • Processing the clinical letters in accordance with the incoming post protocol.
  • Liaising closely with other members of the administrative and wider practice team.

Person Specification:

Skills:

  • Desirable: Good keyboard skills, computer literate, including the use of Office 365 packages, email, and the internet.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Good standard of general education.

Experience:

  • Essential: Able to multi-task, ability to work as part of a team, hard working and reliable, can work without direct supervision, good attention to detail, coding experience needed or as a minimum, medical terminology or GP practice experience.
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a team setting.
