Junior Developer

Junior Developer

Full-Time On-site
Spring Capital Partners

We’re looking for a junior developer to help build and improve the TypeScript and Node.js platform ourcolleagues use every day. You’ll build features, work with business data and learn from an experiencedsenior software engineer who reviews your code before it goes live.

This could be your first developer role, or your next step after a year or two in the job. We’re open tograduates, bootcamp and conversion-course leavers, the self-taught, and anyone early in a softwaredeveloper or software engineer career.

About the role

Spring Capital Partners is an independent investment management distribution business. We work with a select group of leading boutique fund managers, connecting their investment strategies with professional investors across the UK and Europe.

One of our directors built our internal platform using AI coding tools. It now supports much of our day-to-daywork, including client records, sales activity, fund data, reporting and investment manager partner portals. The next step is to develop and improve it as the business’s needs evolve.

The platform uses TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL, with code managed in GitHub. You’ll use AI codingtools too, while learning to understand, test and maintain the code you put into production.

What you’ll do

  • Build and improve screens, APIs and database features, with code review from an experienced engineer.
  • Talk to colleagues about what they need, investigate problems and check that changes work as intended.
  • Work with fund holdings, fund flows, sales figures and client records, helping to keep the data accurate and useful.
  • Create reports and dashboards that help colleagues answer questions about the business.
  • Spend around half a day a week on practical IT and Microsoft 365 support, working with our external ITprovider, which handles first-line support.

You’ll report directly to the COO and work closely with the people using the platform. Internally the role is our Technology, Data & AI Associate, which is a fair description of what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Software development: writing, testing and shipping production code, working with AI tools in alignment with industry best practise.
  • Data: oversee how fund and sales data is structured, stored, cleaned and reconciled, and how to turn it into insights a distribution team can act on.
  • Business analysis: spend time with the people who use the system, working out what they need and specifying it.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to have built something you can talk us through, and be able to read code and work out what it’sdoing. That might come from a degree, a bootcamp, a conversion course, your own projects or a previous job.We care more about what you can show us than which language you learned.

We’d like someone who asks questions, enjoys solving practical problems and can explain their work tocolleagues who aren’t developers. As we build with AI tools, we need someone who can tell whensomething those tools produce isn’t quite right.

What we offer

  • Technical mentoring and code review from an experienced senior software engineer.
  • A budget for training and AI tools.
  • Pension contributions matched up to 10%.
  • Participation in our bonus scheme.
  • Hybrid working, with three days a week in our Moorgate office.

Salary will depend on your skills and experience and will be discussed on the first call. This is a junior position. If you have more than about three years of production experience, it isn’t the right role for you. We’re looking tohire as soon as we find the right person.

You must already have the right to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship.
