At Spotted Zebra, we're building an AI-native end-to-end hiring platform that helps leading organisations find the right people faster and fairer than ever before. We bring Interview Intelligence, Skills Assessments, and AI Interview Agent together in one powerful platform, designed for intelligence and action.
Spotted Zebra helps large enterprise customers adopt AI-enabled hiring in a practical, responsible and defensible way. As AI becomes more central to hiring, our customers need to understand how it works, how it is governed, how risk is managed, and how to secure internal approval to use the capabilities in our product from stakeholders across AI governance, legal, privacy, procurement, HR and the business.
We are looking for an AI Governance & Legal Counsel to lead this work, reporting directly to our Co-founder & CCO. This is a blended, customer-facing role focused on helping enterprise customers navigate AI and data governance from pre-sales through implementation, with particular responsibility for securing internal approvals required to deploy Spotted Zebra successfully.
You will own the AI and data governance workstream across customer implementations, working alongside the Implementation Manager and other consultants to identify what each customer needs to achieve internal approval. You will support both pre-sales and post-sales, helping commercial teams answer customer questions around AI governance, human oversight, automated decision-making, fairness, explainability, bias, data protection and privacy.
A major part of the role will be creating, maintaining and tailoring customer-facing governance documentation, including AI governance packs, DPIA support materials, risk assessments, and FAQs. You will also help track relevant legislation and regulatory expectations, maintain key documentation, and communicate legal or governance changes that may affect the product or implementation process.
Alongside your primary AI-governance responsibilities, you will act as Spotted Zebra’s primary in-house legal counsel, reviewing and negotiating customer and supplier agreements, advising the business on contractual risk, and engaging specialist external counsel where required.
Success means customer governance questions are answered clearly, implementation delays are reduced, and Spotted Zebra has a stronger, more repeatable approach to AI governance across pre-sales, implementation and product development.
You will be a strong fit if you are a qualified lawyer in the UK or another relevant jurisdiction, enjoy working directly with enterprise customers, can explain legal, regulatory and governance topics clearly, and have experience reviewing and negotiating commercial technology or SaaS agreements.
Experience in supporting enterprise customers through AI-governance, legal, compliance or procurement approval, and drafting policies, DPIAs, risk assessments, or customer-facing documentation would be valuable.
Benefits include meaningful share options, health insurance, enhanced pension, 25 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), remote-first work, and access to the latest AI-powered tools and technologies.
At Spotted Zebra, we welcome people of all stripes and are committed to providing equal opportunities and an inclusive culture. We encourage you to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your interview experience more comfortable.
