Wood Green School is a comprehensive school for ages 11 to 18 in Witney, ten miles west of Oxford. More than 1,200 students attend the school, which has Years 7 to 11 and a sixth form. The school was founded in 1953, became comprehensive in 1968 and operates within Acer Trust, a multi-academy trust with five primary schools and four secondary schools.
Trust membership connects staff with colleagues across Oxfordshire and gives the role a wider school-management setting. The school is oversubscribed and serves the town and surrounding villages. Its facilities are also available for community booking, while sport, music, drama, public speaking and wellbeing activities extend the operational demands beyond ordinary teaching hours.
Qualifications And Pre-Employment Checks: Formal qualifications are required, with evidence supplied during recruitment. The successful candidate also needs experience that supports estate strategy, compliance, contractor oversight, team development and long-term planning. The role requires the judgement to set priorities, the organisation to maintain assurance systems and the communication skills to work with school colleagues, contractors and trust contacts.
Wood Green School requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, other statutory clearances and at least two acceptable references, including one from the current or most recent employer. The school may also carry out online searches for successful candidates.
Support staff are eligible for the support staff pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Interview Week And School Values: Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 24 August. The role is based at Woodstock Road in Witney, and candidates need eligibility to work in the UK because visa sponsorship is unavailable. Wood Green School launches the values Belong, Aspire and Thrive in September 2026. The School Estate Manager joins at a point when the school is setting a new values framework alongside its continuing work on buildings, compliance and community use.
