Location: Citizens Advice Rural Cambs offices and Ely Foodbank sites (Chatteris, Cottenham, Ely, Haddenham, Soham & Waterbeach)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (flexible working required)

Salary: £25,262 – £27,243 (FTE equivalent – salary uplift pending)

Contract: Fixed-term until April 2029

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Adviser to join our Ely Foodbank Project, supporting people experiencing financial hardship and complex life challenges. Working directly with foodbanks and clients, you’ll provide advice, casework and budgeting support to help address the underlying causes of poverty, reduce reliance on foodbanks, and build long‑term resilience.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality advice and casework on welfare benefits, housing, debt and income maximisation and budgeting support.
  • Deliver support face‑to‑face, by phone and digitally.
  • Attend foodbank distribution sessions as required.
  • Maintain accurate case records and meet quality standards.
  • Support foodbank volunteers to identify issues and make effective referrals.
  • Build strong relationships with foodbanks, CARC colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Collect monitoring data and contribute to reports for funders.
