Job Purpose/summary

The Commercial Finance Manager will play a key role working in partnership with the business to drive financial performance and strategy development.

This role will have a specific focus on the subscription business while also maintaining broader commercial finance responsibility across business.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities

  • To own the review of monthly reporting on performance of business units to support achievement of business and financial objectives
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated subscription financial models to improve forecasting accuracy and support pricing and packaging decisions.
  • Monitor and analyse key subscription metrics (LTV, Churn, ARPU, CAC) to identify growth opportunities and investment returns.
  • Working in the Subscriptions Growth Team to integrate financial strategy into subscription growth initiatives (e. g., paywall changes, new tier launches).
  • Evaluate commercial data effectively and communicate articulately to non-financial stakeholders
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and execute in partnership with business executives and Head of Commercial Finance
  • Fortnightly updated forecast of financial performance of business areas including costs
  • Delivery of annual budget and quarterly reforecasts for business units
  • Financial appraisal of potential new opportunities and investment requests
  • Management and development of a finance analyst
  • Work with the wider Finance Team to maintain an environment of continuous improvement
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant
  • Experience working within a subscription-based business.
  • Strong understanding of subscription economics (LTV, CAC, Churn, ARPU) and modeling techniques.
  • Organised, structured and results focused
