Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company specialising in content and data within sports betting, horse racing and fantasy sports. With over 400 employees, the group operates multiple award-winning brands, including Racing Post, Pickswise, myracing and Free Super Tips. We partner with leading operators across the betting industry to produce and build multilingual, best-in-class digital products and content to engage and educate customers.

The Head of Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing and audience development strategy for the group, including for our flagship brand Racing Post, as well as MyRacing and Free Super Tips. This role will focus on driving growth through the identification and exploration of new audience cohorts, traffic sources and other opportunities. They will also work with other departments on the retention, satisfaction, and engagement of our existing loyal audiences. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to unlock growth potential and provide strategic insights across all brands.

In addition to overseeing the marketing strategy, the Head of Marketing will manage the marketing strategy and budget. They will lead the social, brand, campaigns and SEO functions, ensuring these areas work effectively together, and across the group, to drive audience growth. Collaboration with the Head of Audience in the Content department will be key to optimising the reach and success of our content. The Head of Marketing will define and track audience success metrics and champion new marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy for our B2C brands, focusing on understanding and delivering for specific audience cohorts.
  • Be the internal expert on audience activity and trends, proactively identifying future challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and line management to the Head of SEO, Campaigns Manager, and Senior Content Marketing Manager.
  • Analyse marketing performance through data-driven methods, providing actionable insights to improve campaign outcomes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all departments, particularly content, video, and product teams.
  • Lead the end-to-end execution of marketing campaigns across all channels.
  • Own the creative and brand direction, ensuring all visual identity and messaging resonate with target audiences.
  • Ensure compliance and integrity across all marketing activities.
  • Monitor emerging trends and technologies to identify opportunities that align with business goals.
  • Ensure that all marketing initiatives retain safer gambling at their heart.
  • Highly numerate and data-driven, with experience in analysing data to derive insights.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams efficiently.
  • Experienced leader, skilled in managing and developing high-performance teams.
  • Solid understanding of UK horse racing is beneficial.
  • Proactively seeks constructive feedback and takes initiative.
  • Proven ability to drive change by improving performance and adapting to dynamic business conditions.

  • Strong knowledge of SEO, social media, and analytics.
  • Familiarity with UK regulatory frameworks, including ASA guidelines for advertising and gambling promotion.
