Spotify for Authors (SFA) is the creator platform for the audiobook industry — a web application that gives publishers, authors, and narrators tools to manage their catalog, track performance, and distribute content on Spotify. We're scaling toward 100,000 users across a React/TypeScript frontend, Java backend services, and data pipelines that feed into Spotify's broader audiobook ecosystem. SFA connects to Spotify's highest-priority bets: expanding audiobook access, building content creation tools, and shaping discovery surfaces. We operate with a "short toes" philosophy — contribution has no borders, quality is shared, and we use modern tools (including AI) to reduce toil and amplify creativity.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and evolve features end-to-end across a React/TypeScript frontend and Java backend services that power the SFA platform at scale.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools as a core part of your workflow for code generation, automated testing, and AI‑powered code review.
  • Deliver testable, maintainable, and high‑quality code and take operational responsibility for the components you develop.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to ship impactful experiences for audiobook creators.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and participate in RFCs and code reviews.
  • Share knowledge and promote best practices within your squad.

Who You Are

  • You have experience building web applications across the stack. TypeScript and Java experience preferred.
  • You’re motivated to learn, take on new challenges, and T‑shape.
  • You think product‑first while building tech solutions.
  • You’re comfortable using AI tools and agents to support your development workflow.
  • You’re comfortable with modern infrastructure practices (CI/CD, containers, cloud platforms) and care about observability.
  • You communicate clearly and collaborate well in a distributed team.
  • You’re pragmatic and motivated by solving real problems for creators.

Where You’ll Be

This role is based in Stockholm or London. We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.

Spotify is an equal opportunity employer. You are welcome at Spotify for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or what’s playing in your headphones. Our platform is for everyone, and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be forward‑thinking! Bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
