The Government Affairs team is charged with understanding the global and local policy landscape in relation to Spotify’s business objectives and advocating on the company’s behalf on critical public policy issues. We represent the company before legislators and regulators, see around corners, and mitigate potential risks.
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Government Affairs team as Director of Safety Policy . In this role, you will provide strategic advice and external advocacy on safety policy-related matters that have an impact on Spotify in key markets around the globe. The position can be based in one of several locations and will work in a global context.
You will report to the VP, Head of Global Government Affairs and Public Policy.
What You\’ll Do
- Spotify is a digital music, podcast and audiobook service that gives you access to millions of songs and other content from creators all over the world. We are committed to providing a safe environment and protecting our users\’ privacy. In this role, you will advance these objectives by:
- Setting the course for the company’s policy engagement strategy across a range of safety regulatory and policy areas in jurisdictions worldwide.
- Working with business, legal, Trust & Safety, and product teams to help craft the company’s position on changes in the safety law field.
- Engaging with industry bodies, stakeholder organizations, policymakers, legislators, and other external stakeholders on relevant safety-related areas.
Who You Are
- 10+ years experience dealing with Safety policy issues as well as related regulatory proceedings and law-making processes.
- Strong knowledge of global safety-related law and associated regulations, as well as industry best practices.
- Relevant private or public sector experience advising on safety policy or regulatory developments affecting Internet-based services and/or the tech industry in the US, Europe, and other regions.
- Possess an understanding of the rapidly developing fields in technology and innovation, and a demonstrated ability to translate technological concepts for different audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative, pragmatic approaches and business-focused solutions, as well as proactive legislative proposals.
- A history of effective advocacy before a wide range of government officials and industry bodies.
- A propensity for thinking strategically and a track record of achieving effective results.
- Public speaking and writing about safety policy issues is a strong plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
Where You\’ll Be
- This role may be based in Washington D.C., Brussels, New York, Stockholm, or London.
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in-person meetings, but it still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come to the office 2 to 3 times per week.
The United States base range for this position is $226,676-$323,823, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
