We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Engineering Manager to lead our efforts around application of our subscription platform rules. In this role, you will be tasked with building and scaling a new team passionate about safeguarding our growing subscription ecosystem. You will play a vital role in crafting data-intensive solutions to prevent exploitation while working closely with both R&D mission and business units across Spotify. This is an outstanding chance to create a significant impact by expanding a culture of proactive and scalable vigilance, driving the development of reliable, compliant systems, and setting the standard for revenue protection as we scale our paid propositions in the subscription’s mission.

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish and grow the engineering team focused on stopping opportunistic behavior, hiring strong talent, and encouraging a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Design and deploy scalable, data-intensive systems to apply our subscription platform rules, both within the user journey and through offline analysis.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for stopping opportunistic behavior, working closely with business teams, R&D missions, and stakeholders across the company to build appropriate strategies and tactics.
  • Lead the implementation of a cohesive, scalable infrastructure capable of adapting to new opportunism tactics and patterns, ensuring that our efforts transition from point-to-point fixes to sustainable, long-term solutions.
  • Take an active role in technical decisions, system architecture, and code reviews to ensure the solutions meet business needs and Spotify technical standards.
  • Thrive in a fast-changing environment where challenges are constant, and the job is never truly done, continuously iterating to improve observability and friction against known patterns as well as continuously analyzing new ones.

Who You Are:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams, with a focus on building and scaling data-intensive systems.
  • Outstanding ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with customers, partners, and team members to develop actionable strategies based on sophisticated technical concepts.
  • Strong ability to bridge technical and business domains, aligning cross-team efforts and facilitating effective communication and decision-making.
  • Experience in building scalable systems that integrate data collection and processing capabilities.
  • Proven ability to adapt to a constantly evolving landscape, with a focus on developing sustainable, compliant long-term solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with data-heavy domains, capable of processing and analyzing large vector sets across multiple sources to detect patterns and drive or influence customer lifecycle events.
  • Eagerness to work in a “blue team” environment, defending against exploitation threats and staying one step ahead of abusers.
  • Experience with fraud prevention and detection, and subscription e-commerce or similar domains.
  • Expertise with data analysis tools, anomaly detection, and scalable data processing platforms and Spotify standards.
  • A track record of leading teams in financially critical, high-accuracy environments.
