We’re looking for mid-level Backend Engineers to join Spotify’s Core Infrastructure team. You will contribute to the development and optimisation of the foundational infrastructure that powers the Spotify platform. This is a highly impactful role, developing systems that enable Spotify’s engineering teams to deliver robust solutions quickly and efficiently for over a billion customers. You’ll design, build, and develop scalable infrastructure services and tools, collaborating in a cross-functional team.
The Abs team is responsible for building the central backend infrastructure and framework upon which hundreds or thousands of developers at Spotify build the experience. You will join experienced backend engineers focused on providing a seamless backend development experience, eliminating bottlenecks, and laying the foundation for Spotify’s backend services. Your work will significantly impact how the world experiences music.
What You'll Do
- Work with Java, libraries, and Spotify’s Java framework, Apollo, to develop our backend framework.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers in cross-functional teams.
- Design, develop, and operate business-critical backend systems focusing on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
- Impact other squads' efficiency and help define the future of our service framework.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for operational responsibility of team-maintained services.
Who You Are
- Proficient in Java for backend development, with a good understanding of the Java runtime environment.
- Familiar with modern cloud platforms, preferably GCP, and tools like Docker for containerisation.
- Interested in contributing to core Java frameworks and improving the Java backend experience at Spotify.
- Passionate about building high-quality, scalable systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Committed to sound engineering practices like continuous delivery, clean code, and automated testing.
- Experienced in designing and building distributed, scalable systems, excited to see millions of users benefiting from your code.
