A Technical Sales Engineer / Junior Sales Engineer is needed to join GT Wings, an ambitious engineering led CleanTech business developing AirWing, an advanced wind propulsion system designed to help commercial shipping cut fuel use, reduce emissions and meet global sustainability targets. GT Wings is moving from prototype into global deployment. With its first full scale installation complete and more projects progressing through the pipeline, the business is scaling its commercial activity across the maritime sector.
As a Technical Sales Engineer you'll sit right at the intersection of engineering and commercial growth, supporting the commercial team as the business scales. This is not a cold sales role. It is not a design position either. It is a customer facing engineering role for someone early in their career who wants to use their technical grounding in a more commercial, outward looking way.
Working closely with the commercial and engineering teams, you will support conversations with shipowners, operators and naval architects. You will help translate technical and performance data into clear, credible proposals. You will contribute to feasibility work, fuel savings modelling and ROI discussions, attend meetings, gather technical information and help maintain momentum across longer sales cycles that typically run from six months to a year.
You will not be expected to build a pipeline from scratch. GT Wings already has outreach strategies and an established commercial team in place. Your role is to bring engineering understanding into customer discussions and help move opportunities forward.
To qualify, you should be a Junior Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Commercial Engineer, Graduate Sales Engineer, Proposals Engineer or similar with a CV that demonstrates:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Renewable Energy or similar
- Some experience in an engineering, technical sales support or a customer facing engineering role
- The ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- An interest in customer interaction and commercially driven projects
- Strong organisation skills and the confidence to contribute in meetings
- A genuine interest in maritime decarbonisation, clean technology or vessel efficiency
- Ability to travel internationally to customer sites, shipyards and industry events
Experience in marine, offshore, shipping or energy sectors is advantageous, but not essential. Wind propulsion experience is not required. What matters most is solid engineering grounding, communication ability and commercial curiosity.
This would suit an early career engineer who enjoys working with people as much as solving technical problems, and who is curious about how technology is positioned, explained and adopted in the real world.
This is a UK remote role, with approximately monthly team meetings in Southampton, alongside additional travel for client meetings and industry events across Europe and Asia. Salary £40,000 to £45,000 plus discretionary annual bonus.
In return, you will join a mission driven marine technology company at a pivotal stage of growth. Expect exposure to international stakeholders, live commercial projects and real customer discussions, alongside a salary of £40,000 to £45,000, discretionary annual bonus and the opportunity to build a long term technical commercial career within a business shaping the future of sustainable shipping.
Package Details:
- Bonus Scheme – participation in company discretionary bonus scheme
- Hybrid working (remote initially) with plans for engineering office near Southampton
- Monthly company wide meetings in London (expenses covered)
- 40hr work week
- Holiday – 25 days annual leave plus UK bank holiday
