A Project Manager is needed to join GT Wings, an ambitious engineering led CleanTech and MarineTech company developing AirWing, an innovative wind propulsion system helping commercial shipping cut fuel use and emissions. GT Wings is entering an exciting new phase. With its first full scale system operating and early commercial projects underway, the business is moving from development into deployment. That means working with subcontract manufacturers, shipyards and vessel operators to deliver complex engineering projects in the real world.
As Project Manager, you will work closely with the COO and the wider team to help drive projects from concept through to installation and operation. This is not a theoretical or purely internal role. It involves coordinating physical product delivery across suppliers, fabrication partners and installation environments. It is practical, fast paced and full of moving parts. This is also not about producing reports from a distance. It is about taking discussions, turning them into clear actions and making sure things get done.
You will support engineering development, manufacturing builds, grant funded projects and live customer installations. As the company grows, you will also help introduce simple tools and structure that improve visibility and speed. Expect a hands-on role coordinating with engineers, suppliers and shipyards, building workable project plans, tracking progress, identifying risks early and keeping momentum across multiple workstreams.
Key Requirements- A degree or technical qualification in engineering, marine, manufacturing or a related field
- Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing or physical product environment
- Experience coordinating work involving external suppliers, manufacturers or production partners
- Exposure to delivering physical systems, assemblies or engineered products (not purely service or software projects)
- Strong organisational skills and structured thinking
- Confidence coordinating engineers, suppliers and external partners
- The ability to turn complex discussions into clear, actionable task lists
- A proactive, hands on approach and willingness to take ownership
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Marine, shipbuilding or offshore experience is helpful but not essential. Experience in a start up or fast growth business would also be advantageous.
- You must also be based in or near Southampton and comfortable being in the office two to three days per week.
In return, you will gain exposure across engineering, manufacturing, procurement and vessel deployment within one of the UK's most exciting clean shipping businesses. Expect a salary of £45,000 to £65,000 (depending on experience), hybrid working, real responsibility from day one and a clear pathway into senior project, programme or operations roles as GT Wings scales.
