About The Role

As a Product Manager at Sporty Games UK your role is to identify opportunities in free‑to‑play mobile and digital gaming, helping to define the roadmap of the games we make with the aim to entertain millions of daily global players.

You will collaborate with our Bournemouth game studio team, and talented stakeholders across our remote‑working organization, to identify trends in gaming, propose new game prototypes to test and establish clear and measurable goals. In this role you are expected to become an undisputed expert on your games and players, and to ensure what goes into our game backlog is worth building.

Overseeing game strategy, partnering with development teams and leading the collaborative, dynamic planning process and prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team, you would ensure business readiness of any new game release. You would manage the scope of projects from inception to closure and ensure delivery processes are efficient and cost effective.

We are based in Bournemouth, UK, just two hours from London by train. The role will be hybrid, with days in the office each week so that you can collaborate closely with the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Full end‑to‑end ownership of a range of new games
  • Aligning game development goals and initiatives to company targets
  • Evaluating new game opportunities to ensure that what gets developed and delivered to our customers is the right product, and is both playable and desirable
  • Directing customer research and analysis initiatives to gain a deep understanding of customers’ needs, pain points, and behaviors and use this knowledge to create compelling business cases that demonstrate the value of your proposed game recommendations
  • Growing and maintaining an understanding of our competitive landscape through regular research and analysis
  • Defining and communicating the game roadmap, providing clear vision, strategy and regular updates to key business stakeholders
  • Collaborating with programming, art and design teams, engaging them in understanding and contributing to the customer and business problems that we aim to solve, and prioritising a product backlog for them to work from
  • Translating game opportunities into clear, specific, and measurable requirements to ensure the timely delivery of high‑quality working software
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the technology and development process, ensuring that the final product meets the needs of the customer or business before its release
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Management, Tech Leads and Producers to effectively coordinate dependencies between tasks, development teams or projects
  • Collaborating with the Marketing team to develop comprehensive go‑to‑market plans and product positioning, identifying target customer segments and supporting the marketing team on messaging that positions the product in the minds of the target customer
  • Defining and tracking key metrics to measure product performance and success, continuously monitoring and analysing your games and customer feedback, making necessary adjustments as needed
  • Providing training and mentorship to new and current team members on your areas of expertise and responsibility
  • Participating in team ceremonies including Sprint planning, retrospectives and daily Scrum stand‑ups

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience making data‑driven game development decisions, ideally in mobile free‑to‑play, through user research and experimentation
  • Demonstrable evidence of iterating and improving games based on feedback and performance data such as player retention, engagement and acquisition
  • A strong understanding of user‑centered design principles
  • The ability to lead cross‑functional planning and problem solving, particularly with engineering and design teams
  • Experience defining and tracking KPIs in gaming
  • Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English

Even better if

  • You have a mobile free‑to‑play game hit under your belt
  • Experience in achieving product market fit for emerging markets
  • Degree or Masters in a Business, Product or Technology discipline
