This is a hybrid role based in our Teddington office, you must live within a commutable distance. As part of Destination Sport Group, Sportsworld specialise in the design & delivery of international travel & hospitality programmes for spectators, governing bodies, sponsors, media & corporations at major international sporting events. With over 40 years’ experience of working at prestigious events such as The Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup, Wimbledon and The Championships, Sportsworld has earned an international reputation as one of the UK’s leading events management, corporate hospitality, and sponsorship services providers, delivering memorable guest experiences at the world’s most talked about sporting and cultural occasions.
The Finance Manager role will be responsible for preparing the financial and management accounts, providing financial analysis, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical accounting skills, the ability to manage the profit & loss, cashflow and balance sheet including inter-company reconciliations, and a passion for maintaining accurate financial operations across a growing organisation.
This is a varied, hands-on role and on a typical day you will:
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial reports including management accounts
- Perform bookkeeping and general accounting duties
- Complete bank account reconciliations and manage inter-account transfers
- Input and manage supplier invoices
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable balances for the business
- Prepare supplier payments accurately and timely
- Maintain financial records in compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, and ensure financial integrity
- Perform detailed variance analysis and provide meaningful commentary for senior management
- Prepare KPIs and other financial metrics for performance monitoring
- Process VAT, CAA/ATOL and ABTA returns
- Collaborate with other departments and entities to ensure seamless financial operations
- Liaise with external auditors and assist in the preparation of group-level audit
- Support cash flow management and inter-company funding requirements
- Maintain accurate financial records and support internal and external audits
- Own the year-end accounting processes and collaborate with external auditors
- Provide insights to improve business systems and processes
To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:
- Be fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT) or a similar accounting qualification with a minimum of 3 years practical working experience within finance
- Demonstrate knowledge of tour operations and regulatory compliance
- Have strong technical accounting skills, with a good understanding of VAT and tax compliance
- Have international finance experience using multiple currencies and working with international suppliers would be highly desirable
- Demonstrate strong skills in financial reporting with experience using Sage
- Have exceptional attention to detail with a solid understanding of cost control, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines whilst prioritising workload
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Be computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Be a team player with a can-do attitude, who is not afraid to be hands-on and willing to contribute to the success of the team and the company
