The role
We are looking for a hands-on digital production leader to own how SportsPro's content reaches our audience. This role is responsible for platform distribution strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp, managing a freelance creative pool of video, podcast, and design specialists, and overseeing podcast production logistics from guest scheduling through to final edit. The successful candidate will work alongside our Head of Editorial as a peer, collaborating at the point of commissioning to map distribution pathways before production begins. This is a role for someone who can set strategic direction and roll their sleeves up in equal measure.
Key responsibilities
- Own platform production and distribution strategy across all SportsPro channels.
- Establish and maintain the weekly production rhythm across editorial, social, video, podcast and freelance workflows.
- Work alongside the Head of Editorial to commission content and map distribution pathways before production begins.
- Manage two in-house social producers and coach them to improve output across platforms (including podcasts) which map to the content strategy.
- Manage and brief freelance Video & Podcast Producers/Editors and Graphic Designers, allocating hours around the content calendar.
- Own podcast production logistics including but not limited to: Guest scheduling, recording coordination, production pipeline.
- Work with the Head of Commercial Content to promote and support SportsPro+ and commercial content as required.
- Manage the annual freelance budget, flexing resource towards event weeks and peak periods.
- Enforce production standards across all of SportsPro’s digital content.
- Build and maintain social templates and visual brand consistency across platforms.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a digital production, social media, and/or content distribution role within media, publishing, or sports.
- Hands-on production skills: Comfortable in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent editing software.
- Strong understanding of LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp as B2B distribution channels.
- Experience managing freelancers or external creative resource.
- Track record of managing podcasts and/or video productions end to end.
- Editorial judgement: Ability to translate content into engaging formats across channels.
- Budget management experience.
- Collaborative working style with the confidence to operate as a peer to senior editorial leadership.
- Comfortable building processes and workflows in a changing team environment, not just operating within an existing system.
