About Sportsmith

Sportsmith is the leading content and education platform for sports performance, rehabilitation, and sports science professionals. We create world-class in-person and virtual events that attract hundreds of practitioners from elite teams and institutions across the globe. Past venues have included the Etihad Stadium (Manchester) and the Intuit Dome (Los Angeles), with expansion planned into Europe, Middle East and Australia. As we grow, we’re committed to building a vibrant community around our contributors and audience.

To help us deliver the best events in the industry, we’re looking for an Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of our global events calendar.

Role overview

The Events Manager will be responsible for planning, marketing, and delivering a diverse range of events, including large-scale conferences, virtual experiences, and intimate community gatherings. You’ll manage event projects from concept through to execution, working closely with our internal design, social media and sales team, and also with external partners to ensure a seamless, high-impact experience for every attendee. For the right candidate, there is ample opportunity to branch into broader production and project-management work as Sportsmith scales and your interests evolve. We actively encourage self-driven experimentation and innovation, giving you the freedom to test new ideas that move the brand forward. Expect a dynamic and supportive environment that rewards creativity and proactive problem-solving.

Key responsibilities

  • Event planning & execution: Lead the end-to-end delivery of Sportsmith’s in-person and virtual events, ensuring each is executed on time, on brand, and on budget. Manage timelines, venues, speaker logistics, registrations, supplier coordination, and on-site operations.
  • Community events: Develop and launch small-scale, high-value community events globally to deepen engagement with our network of contributors and members.
  • Marketing & promotion: Collaborate with the design and social media teams to develop compelling campaigns that drive registrations and engagement. Ensure each event supports our brand positioning and meets commercial and educational goals.
  • Project & stakeholder management: Act as the point of contact for all event-related activities and updates. Liaise with speakers, sponsors, venues, and internal stakeholders to maintain a high standard of communication and professionalism.
  • Innovation & growth: Contribute ideas for new event formats, partnerships, or locations aligned with Sportsmith’s global expansion goals. Monitor trends and benchmarks in the sports and events industries to ensure continuous improvement.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in planning and delivering events of various scales, ideally in sport.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently while coordinating with remote, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience with stakeholder and speaker management.
  • Passion for sport and a strong understanding of the performance and rehab landscape.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work occasional weekends, as required by the events schedule.

What we offer

  • Opportunity to shape and lead events at one of the most respected brands in sports performance education.
  • A creative and high-performance team culture where your ideas can influence the global sports community.
  • Flexible working and international travel to elite sports venues.
  • The chance to build something meaningful in a fast-growing organisation.
