We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, who will lead the production of sportscotland’s annual statutory accounts for 2025/26, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.
As the Financial Accountant, you will have a good knowledge of current regulations and legislation in the areas of public sector accounting, audit and taxation. You will be the key contact for external auditors and should have experience liaising with external auditors and audit teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production of sportscotland’s annual statutory accounts for 2025/26, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.
- Act as primary contact for external auditors and coordinate audit activities.
- Prepare financial statements with a strong focus on public sector accounting frameworks (e.g. IFRS, FReM, SPFM).
- Apply current regulations and legislation in public sector accounting, audit and taxation as part of the finance team.
Qualifications
- Professionally qualified accountant.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and public sector accounting frameworks (e.g. FReM, SPFM).
- Experience preparing financial statements and strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience liaising with external auditors and audit teams.
Contract details
Six-month fixed term contract to support preparation and delivery of 2025/26 Financial Statements and audit. Financial year-end is 31 March; engagement expected for approximately 2-3 months in advance and 3-4 months post year-end.
