SMG's social output spans some of the biggest events, brands and rightsholders in Formula 1 and international motorsport, delivered across every major platform.

As our client roster and content volume continue to grow, we're looking for an organised, creative Social Media Manager with a passion for sport storytelling, to think strategically while delivering day-to-day execution across a multi-account agency environment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of developing impactful social strategies, producing and executing creative content across different markets and sports properties, and building engaged online communities.

You will work closely with the digital & content, brand partnerships and PR teams to ensure output supports commercial, engagement and audience growth objectives.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Own the day-to-day strategic planning, execution and management of social channels across a portfolio of SMG client accounts, including ideation, scheduling, publishing and community management.
  • Build and maintain effective social content calendars that align with race weekends, campaign moments and client commercial priorities, ensuring high-quality execution that aligns with each client’s vision and strategic goals.
  • Translate broader brand and partnership objectives into platform-native content ideas, formats and copy across all relevant channels.
  • Track and report on channel performance, using data and platform insights to continuously refine content strategy, formulate clear, actionable recommendations, understand social sentiment and prove ROI to clients.
  • Create and execute optimised paid media plans
  • Assist in the creation and execution of influencer campaigns
  • Maintain a rounded knowledge of platform updates, industry trends, algorithm developments and audience behaviour, bringing fresh ideas into internal and client-facing meetings
  • Lead assigned client accounts and act as a support network to other accounts
  • Work closely with the content production team to brief in assets, ensuring social requirements are considered from the earliest stages of shoots and edits.
  • Manage on event execution, providing real-time social coverage across race weekends and live events, adapting content plans as moments unfold.
  • Create low-lift content on event including basic editing and content capture, with guidance from the digital content team.
  • Monitor community sentiment and respond to comments/DMs in a manner consistent with each client\'s brand voice.
  • Support the wider team in pitch and new business processes, contributing social strategy input, audience insights and platform recommendations.
  • Keep clients informed with clear, proactive communication on planning, performance and emerging opportunities.
  • Support the growth of social as a formal SMG service line, helping shape process, tools and best practice as the team scales.
  • Candidate Requirements
  • Required
  • 2-4 years' demonstrable experience managing social media channels, within a sports, entertainment or brand agency environment.

A clear grasp of cultural differences in content preference, platform usage and engagement patterns.

  • Deep, current knowledge of social media culture, audiences and platforms (Instagram, Tik Tok, X, You Tube, Linked In, Threads) and what drives engagement on each.
  • Confident using social scheduling, listening and analytics tools
  • Strong copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tone of voice across multiple clients and markets.
  • Comfortable working with data - able to pull insights from performance reporting and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience briefing and collaborating with content/creative teams to shape assets for social.
  • Prior experience managing multiple accounts simultaneously across different brand profiles
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
  • A self-starter mentality, comfortable taking ownership and contributing ideas beyond the immediate brief.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends, around race calendars and live events.
  • A genuine interest in sport, motorsport and culture-led content
  • Desired
  • Prior experience with Formula 1 or motorsport clients is highly desirable
  • Ability to work at pace across multiple accounts simultaneously, prioritising effectively under pressure.
  • Experience covering live events or race weekends is a strong plus.
  • Experience with paid media and influencer campaigns
