We are the recognised trade association for the sports and play construction industry in the UK. Founded in 1993, Labosport is a leading global consortium of testing laboratories and consultancy firms specialising in sports and play surfaces, equipment and technology. We are recognised by international and national sports and play governing bodies, including FIFA, the FA, World Rugby, FIH, World Athletics and ITF. Our collaboration with policymakers enables us to contribute to the development of standards for facilities, equipment and technology across all levels of sport, from elite professionals to grassroots communities.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Consultancy department and play a key role in delivering high-quality projects across the sports surface construction industry. The role involves supporting and collaborating with consultants on the planning, design, and execution of projects. A strong background in surveying, design, and technical project delivery is essential, with drainage design experience considered highly advantageous. You will work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team on feasibility studies, planning applications, tender preparation, and contract administration, ensuring compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to consultants in surveying, design, and project coordination
- Assist and, where appropriate, lead the preparation of feasibility studies, planning applications, specifications, and tenders
- Apply engineering principles to civil infrastructure design, including drainage, flood risk, surface water systems, and attenuation
- Liaise with clients, team members, and local authorities to support efficient project delivery
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as electrical and landscape design
- Participate in internal and client meetings to monitor progress and resolve challenges
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and authority requirements
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience supporting consultants with surveying, design, and technical project activities
- Drainage design experience and familiarity with software such as MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, or Autodesk InfoDrainage advantageous
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of CAD and civil design tools
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel
Working Hours: Monday to Friday — 35 hours per week
Location: Nottingham Head Office / Hybrid working with site travel
