Reporting into the senior leadership team, you’ll lead all aspects of media, communications and digital content, overseeing the club’s public profile while ensuring every piece of communication reflects its values, professionalism and ambitions.
No two days will look the same. One week you’ll be delivering media operations around fixtures, managing press commitments and producing engaging digital content. The next you’ll be supporting commercial campaigns, developing long-term communications strategies or helping navigate high-profile announcements.

The Role
As Head of Media & Communications, you’ll be responsible for the club’s overall communications strategy, leading a high‑performing media function across digital, broadcast, written and visual content.
You’ll manage the day‑to‑day operation of the department whilst setting the long‑term direction for how the club communicates internally and externally.
Working closely with colleagues across football operations, commercial, academy and community programmes, you’ll ensure messaging remains consistent while finding new and creative ways to engage supporters and grow the club’s profile.
The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on delivery, making it ideal for someone equally comfortable developing communications strategies as they are filming training, managing media on a matchday or producing content at short notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the club’s media and communications department, setting high standards across all output.
- Develop and deliver a communications strategy that supports both sporting and commercial objectives.
- Manage all media enquiries, interviews and press activity.
- Oversee the club’s social media channels, website and digital content.
- Produce engaging written, video and photographic content across multiple platforms.
- Lead all media operations on home and away matchdays.
- Support commercial partners through creative digital activations and branded content.
- Promote academy, women’s football and community programmes through consistent storytelling.
- Monitor digital performance and identify opportunities to grow audiences and engagement.
- Manage freelancers, photographers, videographers and external contributors.
- Advise senior leadership on communications strategy and reputation management.
About You
You’ll already have experience working within professional sport or another fast‑moving communications environment and be confident leading both strategy and delivery.
We’relooking for someone who combines creativity with organisation, understands the importance of relationships and enjoys working under pressure.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in media, communications or digital content within professional sport.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of social media, digital content and audience engagement.
- Experience creating content across video, photography and written media.
- The confidence to build relationships with players, coaching staff, senior executives and external media.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- A calm approach in high‑pressure environments.
- A genuine passion for football and supporter engagement.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Canva or similar creative software would be advantageous, as would previous experience working within professional football.
