About the Role
As Participation Marketing Manager, you will lead the marketing of British Triathlon and Triathlon England’s development programmes to increase awareness, engagement and participation in the sport. Working closely with the Development team, you will collaborate with colleagues across Events, Clubs, Regional Development and Workforce/Coaching, as well as the wider marketing team to promote key programmes such as Swim Bike Run and Active Skills for Life designed to grow grassroots participation.
You will develop and deliver audience‑led, insight‑informed marketing campaigns that drive participation growth across British Triathlon’s programmes and events. You will partner closely with the wider Marketing team and the Development Directorate to translate programme goals into impactful marketing activity, manage content and creative delivery across digital, social, email and web channels, and build trusted relationships with clubs, schools, coaches and community partners.
You will track performance and turn campaign data into actionable insights that shape future activity.
We’re searching for someone with proven marketing experience who is passionate about growing participation in sport and physical activity. You will have a track record of planning and delivering effective multi‑channel campaigns, with strong skills in audience insight, content management and digital marketing. You will be an excellent communicator and collaborator — comfortable building relationships across multiple teams and with external partners. Experience in sport, community or health sector is a genuine advantage, and a passion for triathlon or multisport would be a welcome bonus.
We also value the different perspectives that a more representative workforce will bring to our work and are particularly keen to hear from applicants from diverse communities and backgrounds.
Successful working relationships are key to any role. Our new Participation Marketing Manager will report into the Head of Marketing and Membership. The successful candidate will be an integral and valued member of the Brand, Engagement and Membership Directorate, working closely with colleagues across marketing, communications, membership and commercial teams. The role will also work in close partnership with the Development Directorate – particularly colleagues across Participation, Clubs, Workforce and Events – ensuring development programmes and grassroots initiatives are effectively promoted and aligned with organisational priorities.
This role benefits from our hybrid working model, with colleagues typically spending 2–3 days per week at our Loughborough head office – a supportive, collaborative and energetic environment within the Loughborough University campus. The remaining time can be worked from home, offering genuine flexibility alongside the benefits of regular in‑person connection with your team.
Benefits
- 25 days’ annual leave (plus flexible holiday buying) and increases with service
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay
- Dedicated time for personal and team learning and development
- Two paid volunteer days per year
- Free parking at Loughborough University campus
- Pension, life assurance, and private medical insurance to care for you and loved ones
