About the Role
At Sporting Chances Group (SCG), we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, understood and capable of success. We are looking for a compassionate, values-driven Head of Provision to lead our SC Surrey alternative education provision for young people who have been excluded from mainstream education, are without a school place, or are unable to attend due to special educational needs or disability.
You will lead a small, committed team delivering teaching, 1-to-1 mentoring and tailored support, creating an environment where young people can re-engage with learning, build confidence and make positive progress. Safeguarding, strong relationships and high expectations sit at the heart of this role.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team delivering academic and pastoral provision
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy), ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people
- Use data thoughtfully to track attendance, progress and wellbeing, evidencing impact from starting points
- Design and oversee individualised programmes that are purposeful, inclusive and outcome-driven
- Build trusted relationships with young people, families and external professionals
- Contribute to the development and growth of the provision
About You
You are an empathetic, reflective leader with experience supporting young people with SEN, behavioural or complex needs. You believe in restorative, child-centred approaches and are motivated by helping young people succeed on their own terms.
Essential:
- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience), including at least grade C/5 in GCSE English & maths
- Strong experience working with vulnerable young people
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Confident leadership and communication skills
Desirable:
- QTS
- Experience in alternative provision or SEMH settings
