Top Sports is one of the leading sport and exercise providers for children in London. Our team have been delivering high quality children's sport coaching for 10 years in educational settings and sporting venues, for children between the ages of 18 months to 11 years. Top Sports need enthusiastic, energetic and committed individuals to join our expanding team and lead a team of coaches as a General Manager.

Your role will involve:

  • Overseeing the delivery of the best child behaviour management strategies across all Service Lines
  • Safeguarding and Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Communicating and interacting with parents, schools and Ofsted representatives
  • Managing the staff whilst they deliver services in schools and nurseries
  • Managing the operations of day-to-day coaching
  • Creating and developing effective and long lasting relationships with schools and nurseries
  • Observing and assessing coaches and helping them improve their skills
  • Supervising management to support staff and run Operations
  • Identifying gaps and needs in the children's sports coaching market, and innovating in developing new products and services
  • Business Development and Sales Management
  • Management and maintenance of quality of delivery across business

We are looking for a talented individual to join our team. Individuals should have a keen interest in sport and child development, including physical and mental well-being. You will be responsible for the overall operational management of the business, including a squad of coaches and liaising with admin and marketing to promote the success of the business.

We are looking for individuals who possess charisma, are articulate, well-presented and have a desire to be part of a successful and busy sport coaching business. You should be passionate about the delivery of exceptional customer service and high quality coaching. Your weeks will be split between operational management of the business, coaching and building the business. Business building activities will include supervision and management of a team of coaches and selling Top Sports services into local schools and nurseries.

Hours: 37.5 a week

Location: North London

Salary: Up to £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience (plus bonuses)

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring all services delivered are fun, engaging and energetic sports sessions to children aged from 18 months to 11 years through management, coaching and training
  • Completing health and safety based activities to ensure a fun and safe environment
  • Building relationships with parents and children to inspire and educate
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Head Teachers and Nursery managers
  • Supporting the Directors to build the business in line with annual business plans
  • Customer service and interaction with key stakeholders
  • Supporting marketing to local schools and nurseries
  • Undertaking appropriate and relevant training
  • Recruiting and managing a team of coaching staff, building an engaging, vibrant culture that supports fast-paced development of skills and expertise
  • Taking responsibility - decision making, leading/managing people and building relationships

Person specification

Essential qualities:

  • Minimum of 3 years coaching experience
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Conscientious and unbeatable standards of delivery
  • Charismatic, passionate and excellent interpersonal skills
  • A passion for child development and sport
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Ability to move across locations with equipment
  • Experience of working with 3 to 11 year olds in a school and sports environment
  • Provide and facilitate safe and creative sports lessons/classes
  • Have a well-rounded knowledge of a number of sports
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Experience of managing other members of staff, including supporting their development
  • Experience of managing business operations
  • Sound judgement and common sense
  • Sufficient understanding and use of English

Desirable qualities:

  • Competent in using IT to support administration tasks
  • A driver's licence and access to own mode of transport
  • Previous experience in sales and marketing within a school/sports sector
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage time effectively
  • Appropriate child protection/safeguarding training
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Graduate in Sports Coaching or Sports Science or Completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Sports Coach or Management
