Multi Sport / Badminton / Netball / Volleball Coach Mentor

Founded in 2002,Greenhouse Sportsis dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through the power of sport and mentoring. The organisation works with young people from disadvantaged communities, helping to address the challenges associated with child poverty and deprivation across the UK.

Greenhouse Sports Coach Mentors are embedded within partner schools as part of the school community, providing young people with year-round access to sport and mentoring. Their role extends beyond sports coaching: they act as trusted mentors and positive role models, supporting young people to develop essential life skills.

Through Greenhouse Sports'STEP Curriculum, young people develop social, emotional, thinking and physical skills. These skills are designed to help them remain engaged in education, build positive relationships and develop the confidence and resilience needed for their future.

Greenhouse Sports has grown significantly over the past five years, while maintaining its core mission oflevelling the playing field for young people across the UK. ItsTeam for Lifebrings together coaches, staff, parents, schools and supporters who share a commitment to creating opportunities for young people to thrive.

About The Role

The Coach Mentor will be responsible for making a positive and meaningful impact on young people's lives by delivering Greenhouse Sports' evidence-based STEP Curriculum, which is underpinned by Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles.

The role is based full-time within one of Greenhouse Sports' partner schools and involves delivering a year-round programme combining sport, mentoring and personal development opportunities.

The Coach Mentor will report to a Coach Development Manager, who will support their ongoing professional development and contribute to the wider coach development programme.

The programme includes:

  • Sport-based sessions integrated within PE lessons and school activities
  • Clubs before, during and after school
  • Opportunities to participate in competitive sporting fixtures
  • One-to-one and small-group mentoring
  • Employability-focused sessions
  • Holiday camps

Key Responsibilities

The Coach Mentor will be expected to:

  • Deliver the STEP Curriculum using Positive Youth Development principles and create inclusive, supportive environments for young people.
  • Monitor and report on participant progress and programme performance against agreed goals and targets.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, school staff, Greenhouse Sports colleagues and participants' wider support networks.
  • Regularly review and adapt delivery to meet the individual needs and best interests of young people.
  • Work closely with the Coach Development Manager to review performance and maintain a high standard of delivery.
  • Complete relevant administrative duties, including coaching plans, risk assessments and HR requirements.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding and ensure that the safety and wellbeing of young people remain at the forefront of all activities.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate should:

  • Hold a minimum NGB Level 2 coaching qualification.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of child development and Positive Youth Development through sport.
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles and good practice.
  • Be adaptable and resilient within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Work collaboratively and build effective relationships with others.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and act as a positive role model and mentor to young people.
  • Have excellent communication and planning skills, including the ability to plan across the short, medium and long term.
  • Remain positive and professional when dealing with challenging situations or environments.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
