Aureos are seeking a HV Operations Manager, taking a senior operational leadership role within a growing £10m High Voltage business.

Aureos works in partnership with clients across the UK energy infrastructure sector, delivering safe, compliant and high-quality HV substation, distribution and electrical infrastructure works from planning through to installation, commissioning and handover.

Safe and compliant HV delivery Effective use of people, plant, subcontractors and commercial resources Delivery of projects on time, to budget and to the required quality standards The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: As HV Operations Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of HV works across a £10m business unit.

You will lead operational teams, project managers, engineers, supervisors, SAPs and subcontract partners to ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, client requirements, statutory obligations and industry standards.

The role requires strong leadership, technical understanding of HV infrastructure, sound commercial awareness and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, framework partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operational delivery across HV projects, ensuring works are planned, resourced, delivered and closed out safely and effectively.
  • Take accountability for business unit performance across safety, quality, programme, cost, margin, risk and client satisfaction.
  • Manage and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Authorised Persons and subcontract delivery teams.
  • Oversee delivery of HV substation, distribution, cable, protection, control, commissioning and associated civil/electrical works.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, company safety rules, client procedures, switching arrangements, permits, RAMS and relevant industry standards.
  • Lead operational planning, labour forecasting, outage coordination, procurement input and subcontractor mobilisation to support profitable delivery.
  • Monitor project and portfolio performance through regular reviews, reporting, KPIs and corrective action planning.
  • Support bids, tenders, early contractor involvement, contract reviews, mobilisation plans and client presentations.
  • Work closely with commercial, design, planning, procurement, SHEQ and senior leadership teams to manage risk, change, opportunity and operational performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across delivery methods, productivity, governance, quality assurance, lessons learned and team capability.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Proven experience in a senior HV operations, project delivery or electrical infrastructure leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of HV substation, distribution, protection, control, cabling, commissioning or electrical network activities.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations, permit-to-work processes, RAMS and electrical safety requirements.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to manage budgets, margins, forecasting, variations, risk and project reporting.
  • Confident client-facing communicator with strong stakeholder management, negotiation and escalation skills.
  • Able to lead teams through change, growth and operational improvement while maintaining a clear focus on safety and quality.
  • Relevant electrical, engineering, operations or project management qualifications are desirable, with authorisations or sector-specific accreditations beneficial.
