THE ROLE:
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a full stack team of engineers to bring amazing new capabilities to music creators. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Engineering for Splice Sounds and be a key leader for a major product development initiative focused on bringing Splice’s technology to digital audio workstation (DAW) software. Your team will operate at the intersection of native C++ plugins, Web‑based user interfaces, and AI. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate an exceptional mix of people, project, and technical management skills.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead, coach, and grow the engineering team responsible for building and evolving our DAW plugin and Desktop application, furthering Splice’s mission of empowering music creators
- Demonstrate a product and user‑centric mindset towards engineering and product development
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive a culture of empowered teams, fostering ownership, collaboration, and initiative across the organization
- Guide your team through adopting the AI tools which are bringing acceleration to the software development process
- Define clear outcomes for the team and lead them in achieving those goals
- Establish and maintain efficient processes to facilitate the team\'s productivity
- Stay current on the latest technologies, preferred practices, and industry trends in software development
- Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers and early‑career managers to support their technical and professional growth
- Collaborate with senior and staff engineers to shape technical strategy and secure buy‑in across the organization
- Foster a culture of innovation, feedback, and continual learning
- Show curiosity about our customer outcomes and our business, identifying higher‑level insights and opportunities across departments to elevate Splice to the next level of performance and growth
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven expertise in technical leadership within a cross‑functional and distributed team environment
- Outstanding communication, organizational skills, and a user‑centric mindset
- Experience implementing agile methodologies, particularly Kanban and/or Lean
- Proficient in technical project management and stakeholder management
- Demonstrated expertise in guiding senior engineers and identifying growth avenues for their continuing development
- Proven track record of mentoring and coaching early‑career engineers in both personal development and business impact
NICE TO HAVES:
- Technical competency in C++, DAW plugins and digital signal processing (DSP)
- Experience delivering desktop experiences built using web‑based front‑end technologies
- Experience working on AI/ML‑powered products
- Experience playing an instrument, singing, or using music creation software
The national pay range for this role is $180,000 – $225,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate\'s experience.
