Role Purpose
To lead the team and undertake the day-to-day management, coordination and development of a large Operations Team to successfully execute customer contracts and meet agreed customer schedules, specifications and cost targets.
Operations Team Leader
Salary: From £49,047
This opportunity, based at our Prestwick site offers:
- 37 hour working week (half day Friday)
- Shift premiums up to 33%, where applicable
- Overtime at time and a half, where applicable

Responsibilities
- Effectively lead and challenge where appropriate, the employees within their department resulting in an overall improvement in performance within their area against the company’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Provide direction & support to team members to ensure delivery of production targets for their section within required timescales.
- Ensure that production schedules are achieved and meet the necessary standards of quality whilst adhering to safety standards and certification requirements.
- Prioritise and allocate direct & indirect resources/tasks to meet business requirements.
- Highlight and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities including Cost / Time.
- Reduction and Removal of Waste, through lean practice and ensure that we adhere to the highest standards of housekeeping.
- Responsible for ensuring all people management policies and processes, including discipline & grievance, are effectively carried out.
- Undertake PDR/PDP with individual members of the team as required.
- In conjunction with the Snr Operations Manager, is responsible for the development and training of employees within their department.
- Adopt a continuous improvement approach to working, e.g. sharing knowledge, skills, working together and working together to resolve problems.
- Responsible for holding timely Cell/Station reviews on Quality and Corrective Actions.
- Provide coaching / counselling as required to department members on performance and development issues.
- Responsible for ensuring effective communications within work area.
- Manage and review labour and overhead budget in conjunction with the Snr Operations Manager.
- Responsible for ensuring consumable materials used in the production build are adequately verified to delivery note, stored in controlled conditions and used in a timely fashion.
- Manage non-aircraft consumables / materials / processes and techniques in line with the Company’s policies and standards and ensure budget is achieved.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- HND/HNC in business studies or equivalent operational experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required together with the ability to interact with customers and suppliers at all levels
- Effective planning, problem solving and decision making skills are also essential
- Strong technical and lean practitioner skills to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction
