Role Purpose
To Manage and Develop an Automation Technical Team in conjunction with maturing the Functional Strategy to meet current and future Business requirements. To ensure efficiencies and capabilities are exploited to the maximum within the Team, with a target of providing a world class Automation Service with the relevant KPI\'s to demonstrate Machine capability and availability to Industry Standard OEE metrics. Support the Tooling and Automation Manager on People and Processes, in line with Business Requirements. Manage Automation Function Budget in line with Quarterly Reviews and forward planning for any Financial Risks or Opportunities.

This opportunity, based at our Prestwick site offers:
- 37 hour working week (half day Friday)

Responsibilities
- Manage and deploy the relevant shift Patterns within the Team to maximise support to the Operations Functions.
- Be the conduit across all Shift Patterns and the main Point of Contact for Automation across the Business with direct support from the Automation Specialists.
- Manage and deploy, through effective communication, day by day and shift by shift priorities across all Functions to ensure efficiencies of resource and delivery of tasks.
- Manage and deploy all Training Requirements within the Team to ensure development and capability are always in line with, or to exceed, Business Requirements.
- Manage Daily, Weekly and Monthly Metrics that are pertinent to Business Requirements and Functional/Technical Reviews.
- Support the Tooling and Automation Manager with Business and Functional Reviews, providing expert, specialist advise as the SME for Automation.
- Manage resources assigned to Project Work and ensure the correct training and approvals are deployed for any backfills to ensure continuity for Operations Support.
- Manage approval scopes and training programs and implement as required through Business Assurance, with the support of the Specialists and Engineers.
- Manage and develop the current and future Automation Supply Chain to ensure any specialist support is available if and when required.
- Manage and Track to budgetary requirements in line with Finance Representative, BCB/PCCB and Tooling and Automation Manager.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- To be well versed in Industrial Automation, Robotics, and CNC manufacturing systems and practices.
- Four years minimum of previous industrial Automation experience and completion of a
- Technical Craft apprenticeship within a relevant engineering discipline, or formal degree in addition to practical experience.
- Be an expert in best practice techniques and tools of the trade (for example the use of software packages or mainframe systems).
- Main areas of knowledge required to perform this job is in Automated, Robotic, and Computer Numerical Controlled systems, Robotics, Customer support, Design Engineering, IT/Computing, Site Services, and Automated Manufacturing Systems.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Management and Development of people to Business Processes.
- Experience in manipulation of Data (software) and complex machine calibrations / tooling checks.
- High level of analytical, evaluative, and innovative thought required to produce reports that may be used in concessions or customer presentations.
- Well-developed supervisory, project management, planning and organising skills.
- A personal drive to develop the Function to Industry standard and beyond.
- Baseline understanding of budgets and financial Business controls.

- Exercise technical authority, supporting the direction of actual work to be performed on equipment within the assigned task or operation.
- Has an element of financial responsibility for a portion of the department budget.

- Requires managing and planning the short- and medium-term activities (of the team) and managing/deploying resources in order to achieve business objectives.
