Property Litigation Locum Solicitor

Spirehouse are recruiting a locum Property Litigation Solicitor on behalf of a well-regarded law firm in Derbyshire, with a view to a permanent appointment for the right individual.

The Opportunity

This locum appointment covers new litigation instructions while the firm recruits for a full-time vacancy. The caseload centres on property and partnership disputes, often involving agricultural clients and high-value land — including land ownership, estoppel, boundaries, rights of way, adverse possession, tenancy matters, and disputes arising from farm ownership after a death. Matters can reach the High Court; counsel is instructed where appropriate.

The role requires genuine ownership of files from the initial client meeting through to resolution. Some office attendance in Derbyshire is required, with occasional client meetings in Staffordshire. Hybrid working is available, but the role is not suited to fully remote working.

Locum hours are open to discussion.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor with strong property litigation experience
• Able to take ownership of matters independently and engage confidently with clients from the outset
• Comfortable handling complex, high-value disputes including High Court proceedings
• Experience in partnership or business disputes is useful but not essential; familiarity with rural or agricultural matters is an advantage
