Spirehouse are recruiting a locum Senior Employment Solicitor on behalf of a Local Authority in Bedfordshire.
The Opportunity
This is a part-time interim contract, working approximately 18 hours per week.
You will provide specialist employment law advice to HR, senior managers and senior officers across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters. The caseload spans equality and discrimination claims, TUPE, redundancy and restructuring, collective consultation, whistleblowing, disciplinary and grievance matters, and employment-related data protection issues.
In addition to your caseload, you will provide supervision and mentoring to junior lawyers and support staff, and deputise for the Principal Solicitor as required.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx with a current practising certificate in England and Wales
- Minimum 7 years' post-qualifying experience in employment law
- Substantial experience of Employment Tribunal advocacy, including complex discrimination, equal pay and TUPE matters
- Ability to manage an extensive and complex caseload independently
- Local government experience desirable but not essential
