As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Spire, you’ll lead efforts to transform satellite designs into production-ready hardware. Your impact will be felt across the entire lifecycle from defining manufacturing tests and processes, to setting manufacturing standards to owning quality assurance frameworks that reduce risk and improve repeatability. In this role, you'll drive continuous improvement, and play a key part in scaling Spire’s manufacturing capabilities with reliability and precision.

What you’ll do as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Lead hands-on builds of first-off satellite assemblies, validating production documentation and identifying design or assembly risks early.
  • Responsible for satellite workflow development including the development and review of detailed work instructions for production.
  • Define and implement MAIT processes, ensuring they are optimized for scale, safety, and efficiency.
  • Feed DFM and process improvement recommendations back to the design team, and ensure updates are fully captured in flight design documentation.
  • Participate in build readiness reviews, ensuring documentation maturity, and tooling/test equipment readiness.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure build processes meet quality requirements and that lessons learned from non-conformances are fed back into design and process updates.
  • Give early insight and training to production teams, ensuring critical design details and care points are well-understood ahead of builds.

Key Skills:

  • Prior experience in aerospace, space systems, or high-complexity mechanical builds.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and complex technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in hands-on assembly, prototyping, and issue resolution in a high-reliability environment.
  • Cross-functional communication and coordination across design, test, and manufacturing functions.
  • Strong documentation and process control mindset.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, harness integration, and satellite build principles.
  • Parts and Assembly modelling in CAD (eg. SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and experience influencing design decisions.
  • Working knowledge of satellite integration, environmental test planning, or mission verification and validation considerations.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving engineering environment.

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office. Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role. If needed, Spire will arrange the necessary licenses—this is not something candidates need to have before applying.
