At Spire, the Space Operations Software team is responsible for preparing for this growth using software to automate mission management, improve telemetry monitoring, monitor ground station activity, and provide the tools needed to analyze constellation performance. As a Space Operations Software Engineer, you will be working with a small team in an agile environment. You will be working on systems and tools that improve the efficiency of the satellite fleet.
Some specific areas include:
- Data analysis of the telemetry from Ground and Space Assets to ensure reliable and efficient performance
- Build applications for visualizing and analyzing satellite telemetry
- Build applications for monitoring ground station and satellite status and control satellite operations
- Develop software to provide automatic fault detection, isolation, and recovery operations for the spacecraft
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years professional experience writing web backend
- 5+ years professional software engineering
- Demonstrated ability to apply data analysis techniques to solve complex technical and business problems
- Familiarity with Linux, including Bash scripting and basic system administration
- Proficiency using and developing containers for development and production environments
Strong Candidates:
- 5+ years of experience with system and web application development using Python
- Familiarity with data backends like S3, RDS, Postgres, Redis, and Elasticsearch
- Experience with Django
- Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Familiarity with Python data visualization libraries
- Experience with Typescript and React
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting system using systems like Grafana, Prometheus, or Nagios
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three business days per week in the office. Access to US export‑controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role. If needed, Spire will arrange the necessary licenses—this is not something candidates need to have before applying.
