The Client: Our client manufactures and provides building products into the Construction sector. They supply to top brickwork and building contractors throughout the UK. Role Overview: As a CNC Machinist and General Works Operator, you will contribute to the precision manufacturing and preparation of components that meet customer specifications. This role involves programming and operating CNC machinery (including FANUC systems), performing manual machining tasks, and supporting general workshop operations such as material handling, despatch, and goods-in processes. You will be expected to uphold high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, while ensuring full traceability and compliance with company procedures.
This position plays a key part in maintaining smooth production flow and delivering reliable, high-quality products to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer requirements from engineering drawings, sketches, and written/verbal descriptions.
- Program, set up and operate CNC lathes using the FANUC system.
- Measure, mark out, cut materials to be machined.
- Set up and operate manual lathes, drills, saws, milling, grinding, marking and other machines as required.
- Finish components or products after machining.
- Measure components during production using specialized measuring equipment to ensure accuracy on all components.
- Operate the manual bar feed to ensure high yield accurate production.
- Weekly coolant checks recording information on the coolant check sheet or MRP/ERP system to ensure safe working environment.
- Tooling to be ordered to ensure production remains fluent.
- Accurately etch and label stock through all phases of the machining process to ensure full traceability.
General Works & Despatch:
- Interpret customer requirements from technical documentation.
- Select, move, and organise materials from stock racks.
- Set up and operate cutting, punching, bending, and thread rolling machines.
- Perform tasks such as measuring, marking, cutting, punching, bending, shearing, welding, and cleaning sheet and plate materials.
- Cut, bend, and deburr bar stock.
- Operate laser cutting machines to produce components within specified tolerances.
- Assist with despatch duties including packing, labelling, and securing products for shipment.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
