As a Welder, Fabricator, and General Works Operator, you will be responsible for the preparation, assembly, and welding of fabricated products to meet customer specifications. The role also includes operating various workshop machinery and supporting general operations such as material handling and goods-in processes. You will be expected to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, while ensuring full traceability and compliance with company procedures. Your contribution is essential to the smooth running of the manufacturing facility and wider production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meeting or exceeding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as agreed with the business.
- Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal/written instructions to understand customer requirements.
- Take accurate measurements and plan layouts and procedures accordingly.
- Set up and align components using tools such as calipers and rulers, clamp pieces securely.
- Select appropriate welding equipment and settings to achieve required weld size and penetration.
- Perform welding operations.
- Inspect and test welded surfaces and structures for flaws.
- Clean and finish welded products to meet quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment in safe working condition and report any damage.
- Accurately complete production planning sheets/ERP/MRP systems, including estimated job times, to support workflow and transport planning.
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and safe at all times.
- Select, move, and organise materials from stock racks.
- Set up and operate cutting, punching, bending, and thread rolling machines.
- Perform tasks such as measuring, marking, cutting, punching, bending, shearing, welding, and cleaning sheet and plate materials.
- Assist with despatch duties including packing, labelling, and securing products for shipment.
