Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum (negotiated on experience)
Hours: 08:30 - 17:00, Monday - Friday
The Company: My client is based in the building services market providing a range of first-class engineering design, consulting, installation and maintenance services to the construction industry. The team have the knowledge, skills and experience to complete complex and demanding mechanical and electrical engineering installations for clients. The quality of the people within the business at every level helps to ensure they deliver marginal and major improvements at every stage of projects from pre-construction to maintenance, whilst leading on safety standards. Full training and ongoing support will be offered to the successful candidate upon joining the team and the opportunity for progression within the business will be available.
Duties and responsibilities (position will include but not limited to the following):
- Receive and review material requisitions
- Ensure materials meet the requirements of the British Standards, are delivered to site on time and at the best price available at the time of purchase
- Resolve discrepancies with the Engineer/Project Manager
- Identify and select suitable materials to purchase
- Raise orders directly onto Accounts systems, complete with agreed prices
- Chase orders which are either incomplete or not delivered when requested
- Negotiate best prices for specials and bulk orders
- Review invoices as required
- Negotiate annual discount packages with suppliers
- Read, understand and implement the company Health and Safety policy and QA.
Previous Experience required:
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in procurement
- Demonstrate competence in the use of standard commercial communications and word/data processing equipment and applications
- Knowledge of the construction sector
- Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) purchasing skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
