Spire Washington Hospital is recruiting for a Porter to provide the highest standards of personal service to patients and staff in all departments and to provide a highly efficient and courteous portering and distribution service throughout the hospital. The role involves working as a multi-skilled member of the team providing high level, quality support to the hospital, covering any of the courier, portering, and security duties.

Contract Type: Full time, Permanent

Duties And Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • To transfer, transport and guide patients safely around the hospital, as required, in a caring, sympathetic and professional manner.
  • To assist in the safety of patients, staff and consultants.
  • To collect and deliver clean and dirty linen.
  • Responsible for the team's safe management of the collection and disposal of waste, both domestic and clinical in line with corporate and hospital policy WM01.
  • To assist with the general security of the hospital and associated grounds and report any security problems to the Senior Management team.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the Maintenance department via Pirana.
  • To undertake driving duties as required.

  • Whilst no formal qualifications are required, you must be able to communicate with other members of staff and patients clearly, and your personal appearance must be of a high standard, expected in a professional healthcare environment.
  • A clean driving licence is essential.
  • Experience of delivering frontline customer service and working in a similar environment.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent customer care skills.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Caring and sympathetic.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends.
